To kill a kingdom: Corruption
To kill a kingdom, you must first attack the rats. Search every pipe, drain, and passage. These rats are sly and clever and know the kingdom better than the ruler. They may deceive the naked eye, cover up wars like they never existed, and erase rules like they were never applied. Killing a kingdom is much like rebuilding a system, a country. Every country wants to be better and wants to be a superpower. For the ones that don't succeed, I think their attack system is the flaw. They think they are solving problems by introducing new programs and projects, I believe it's quite the opposite. This same scenario in a war is like attacking without knowing which side you are fighting for. What these countries are doing is dusting, what they need to do is deep cleaning.
Our government now tends to be a "serial overlooker" overlooking all the rocks in the path of growth. Realistically we also have to accept that corruption is not going away, it is no secret that politicians are only in politics for the money. Corruption is not only done by those on the top, it is practised by ones on every level, bribing a security guard, bribing for a job, bribing for a seat in a university, bribing to cover up crimes, there is no end to this, especially in a place where everyone wants to make money. In their defence, people get paid low wages, wages so low they can't afford basic necessities. And some are clouded by greed, always wanting more.
Since corruption has no positive aspects, let's briefly discuss its negatives. Corruption is like oiling your cycle's chain for smooth riding. In some countries, nothing works in your favour if you don't have the money to bribe the officials. Corruption affects the economy by hindering economic growth, lowering living standards, less foreign investment, unequal wealth distribution, etc.
In school, my social studies teacher used to call me "corruption girl" because I loved talking about corruption. I always thought it was a very thought-provoking and real topic. Though I often said I'd get into politics and be corrupt, now I don't think so. The more I read about politics in my country and notice my surroundings, the more I realise I'll be happier away from it.
The growth of a country is like a balloon, and corruption and unjust practices are like a rock holding them back. The best possible choice would be to cut off the string tying the two. But sometimes the string can't be cut just by a blade.
